Liquid Fuel Gas Camping Stoves
I personally recommend only two real choices - propane or white gas "Coleman Fuel" . The white gas stoves will produce the most heat of any camping stoves. Many of the white gas stoves now come in a "dual fuel" version. This will allow you to use unleaded auto gas. Many campers use the auto gas and are satisfied with it. However, if you spill it or get it on your hands, you will have a very hard time getting free of the odor. Check your hands the next time you fill up at the self service gas station. I recommend using only the white gas in the dual fuel stoves. If you run out and can't buy any - then use a little unleaded gasoline. This is the only real advantage to the dual fuel stoves. The main advantage of using unleaded gasoline over white gas is cost. I feel the extra cost for the few gallons of white gas used each year is worth paying so you get the cleanliness of this fuel. Backpacker Stoves Single burner backpacking stoves aren't made for preparing a large meal. Most of these stoves use liquid fuel white gas although you can find small single burner proipane. This is because weight is very important when backpacking, and white gas supplies the most heat for a given weight of fuel. Propane Camping Stoves Propane camp stoves have advantages and disadvantages. The first disadvantage is they do not give off as much heat as liquid fuel gas stoves do. The big advantage is ease of use. No fuel to spill just screw on a bottle and your read to go. There are more advantages and disadvantage than these.
